Spring is coming slowly but surely!

Last Saturday I took a few photos of the landscaping around the house.

I put a pot of pansies by the front door to welcome all who would visit.

The weeds are gone -- for now! What is that about creation groaning in Romans 8? I do not believe that there will be any weeds in heaven. My German friend Brigitte once told me that a weed is simply a plant in the wrong place. I suppose that all plants will be in the right place in heaven.

The boxwood does not look too healthy. I do not know if it will make it or not. Time will tell.

For now, I will enjoy the early spring blooms.

Is it spring yet?

Yesterday I went to Downingtown. For those in the UK reading this, that is about a half hour's drive from my home. I was signed up to take a 6 hour course as I try to get the 180 hours I need to update my state certification in preparation to renew my National Board Certification. I am well on the way and will go as far as is possible. I do enjoy the mentoring of teachers that I am doing for Temple University and I need to renew my National Board Certification if I want to continue in that capacity. Outside the CCIU building where the course was taught, I photographed these flowers with my iphone.

Oh! The promise that spring is coming!

God is so wise. Spring comes slowly so that we can appreciate the fullness of each new set of blooms! According to Romans 15, our God is the God of patience, hope and peace. May we all be like Him.

Pottery Class

O LORD, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our Potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand. Isaiah 64:4

Over six years ago - HAS IT BEEN THAT LONG? - several of us began to meet whenever we could get together for Pottery Class. God is our Potter and we are His clay. We share fellowship, joys, concerns and prayer requests. It has been astounding to consider over the years how God has worked in our lives and answered our prayers in ways we never could have imagined. Susan has since moved to Georgia and Erika has become busy as a mother of 3 children and so neither join us regularly these days but today we held a Pottery Class with Judy B., and Barbara in the photo above and Laurel and Brenda in the photo below. Of course, I was there acting as photographer. We really missed Pam, Judy J., Marjorie, Connie.

God is still working. As Michelle would add, "Watch this space..."

Saturday in NYC!

Today Tom and I went to New York City. While there we walked past my Alma Mater - Cliff and Char are you reading this??? Yes, The King's College is now in the Empire State Building and has been for a number of years.

We took the train from Wilmington, Delaware - about a 2 hour trip to NYC.

Here is Tom in Herold Square which is at 34th and Broadway. Tom, the consummate historian, began to point to Broadway and explain that it used to be an Indian path! Upon returning home I learned, "Broadway, as the name implies, is a wide avenue in New York City. While New York has several other Broadways, in the context of the city it usually refers to the Manhattan street. It is the oldest north-south main thoroughfare in the city, dating to the first New Amsterdam settlement. The name Broadway is an English translation of the Dutch name, Breede weg....Broadway was originally the Wickquasgeck Trail, carved into the brush land of Manhattan by its Native American inhabitants. This trail originally snaked through swamps and rocks along the length of Manhattan Island. Upon the arrival of the Dutch, the trail soon became the main road through the island from New Amsterdam at the southern tip." That is thanks to Wikipedia!

Our real destination was the Morgan Library where there was an exhibit of bindings of books dating back to 870!

What fun it was to meet Mary Clow, President of the Tyndale Society for lunch before we examined the exhibit! Why did I not take a photo of Tom with Mary???? :-(

Wednesday Walk at Longwood

This past Wednesday, I had about an hour before my Bible Study so I decided to take a walk at Longwood. It was a very gray misty day - much like England - with all the beauty that implies. I was struck by the beauty of the yellow branches in front of the green. SO BEAUTIFUL!

Then I spotted a squirrel and enjoyed watching him hop up in the tree. He was so darling!
