The blooms are showing...

The peony bush is in bloom. I planted this the year I moved into my house - 1987.

The dogwood are coming...

In the early 1990's I had these iris planted. They are so beautiful!

Here you see the pansies by the front door, the barrels are planted and you see the peony bush and iris.

It is a bit out of focus but I had to include this rose from the bush my dear friend Ellen gave me. Thanks Ellen! She gave it to me when she learned that the bush that Bonnie had given me had died and how disappointed I was that it had not made it through one harsh winter.

Early dismissal from school today...

Required a lunch at the local food court with the aunt!

Iain was so tired that I was not sure if he would be able to stay awake to have his first bite of lunch! He did fall asleep on the way home.

Rhia was exhausted as well.

Kyle was so tired that after lunch we got in the car and he played 3 songs and did not want to hear any more music! Now that REALLY MEANS THAT KYLE IS TIRED!

It was fun to be with them but all of us took naps when we got to our homes and some (not the driver!) fell asleep on the way home!

A beautiful time of year...

I went to Bible Study this morning. Judy's house has a clematis growing on one side of the door which is now if full bloom.

It is SPECTACULAR!

It is growing to the right of the door.

As I left, I took this photo of a polonia tree. They are in bloom everywhere this time of year and so pretty and purple!

And then there was this scene across the fields that I took on the way to Bible Study about 8:55 AM this morning...

Primary Election Day 2009!

Today is Primary Election Day - when the parties elect candidates to run in the fall election. The elections today are state and local township officials, school board members, judges and some county officers. Not every state has an election today.

When I went to vote this morning, I saw one of my former students running for constable for our township.

This is where we vote - our township building which is in reality a big garage!

I had a nice visit with friends and neighbors who were working the polls in support of various candidates. Probably the hottest local race today is the school board race. Four people are running for two positions and there has been a GREAT DEAL of discussion about this for perhaps a year or more.

This was on the other side of the door toward the garage/polling place. I can remember the day when no one sent any signs, materials or people to our little polling place.

Tom & Bonnie's blog - May 16, 2009

Tom and Bonnie took Kyle & Rhia to DC yesterday. I had a busy week so I remained at home.

Part of the adventure was the train trip there.

Here you see them on the Mall.

I had encouraged them to go to the Natural History Museum...

to see the Hope Diamond. Once you see it, you will never forget it!

This BEAUTIFUL corner of the world...

Last Wednesday, I drove over to Judy's for Bible Study about 8:45 AM. Above, you see Judy's beautiful azaleas.

The scenery on the way over is so very beautiful and I have wanted to photograph it for the blog but it was either raining or I had too much traffic behind me. Last Wednesday, I was able to do it. This is a stretch of road I drive on each week that overlooks a large valley and it is so beautiful I just had to include more than one photo of if!

London Grove Plant Sale

Each year on the second Saturday in May, the Quaker Meeting sponsors a plant sale. I went yesterday to get some things for the pots around my house. It is always a wonderful time to see neighbors that one has not seen for a long time and the proceeds go for the care of the historic meeting house.

After doing this for many years, they have developed quite a system and always have it rain or shine.

In the back ground you can see the Penn Oak, which was here when William Penn first came to Pennsylvania.

One goes about and selects plants and pulls the price sticks in each plant. All the plants are placed in the circle and then one pays for the plants and goes across the road and drives the car up close to the circle and puts the plants in the car. Here you can see some of my plants in the circle waiting to be collected when I bring my car across. Now all I need to do is to get them in the soil!

Tim and Sarah's wedding

Yesterday I attended the wedding of one of my former students. I am so proud of the man that he has become and so honored that he wanted me to attend his wedding to such a lovely young woman.

The cake was beautiful!

Here everyone is waiting for Sarah to come down the aisle at the church. You can see Tim waiting in the center of the photo.

And, their first dance...
