Feb. 15, 2010 - A frosty morning and then ...

This morning I awoke to a BEAUTIFUL frosty morning. When I looked out the door from the laundry room, I saw the sun rising over the meadow.

The blurry lines on the previous photo were frost on the widow which deserved a closer look.

The weatherman promised snow in the late afternoon and overnight so the sky became overcast with stratus clouds and the air felt like the cold damp of coming snow. Of course this would be on the top of the previous 2 storms which were plowed out last Friday.

Aftermath of the Blizzard (part 3)

Patrick M. has inspired me to examine the states of water during the storm. Here are some studies of melted snow within 3 feet of my front door. BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO ENLARGE IT.

Aftermath of the Blizzard (part 2)

These photos were taken just before sunset on Feb. 11. Again, the challenge was to take photographs from within 3 feet of the front door and maximizing the capabilities of my new camera. Be sure to click on the images and enlarge them.

Aftermath of the Blizzard (part 1)

The challenge has been to take photos within a 3 feet or so of the front door. I have not been plowed out yet and due to the recent surgery, I could not go far. I took these shortly after sunrise this (Feb. 11) morning. Enlarge the photos and see the 'golden' tree limbs. I thought that they were quite beautiful.

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 6)

And it just keeps snowing and snowing! Compare the top of the railing to previous photos. Do not even try to see the barrel at the end of the walk! It was too deep to walk from my front door to the railing to measure the depth of the snow! Perhaps I will try in the morning.

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 5)

These 4 photos were taken at 4:30 PM on February 10, 2010. Notice the vertical line perpendicular to the railing and on the railing. It was the mark left by the ruler when I measured 12 inches of snow. It was still snowing. Also, look for the barrel at the end of my walk by the driveway. See the barrel? I do not see it either. Check earlier photos of same spot to see where the barrel is located.

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 4)

The first photo was taken though the storm door to my deck. The next two were taken through an open window. These were all taken about 11 AM. It is now about 12:30 PM and it is nearly impossible to see the barn.

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 3)

The entrance to my driveway from the road. Notice the post - which stands about 4 feet high!

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 2)

These photos were taken about 11 AM. The snow measured 8 inches deep - but we already had the remains of last Saturday's snow on the ground which was about 24 inches at the time. Notice the barrel at the end of the walk. You can barely see the dried plants from last summer's planting.

Snow Storm February 9 & 10, 2010 (Part 1)

The snow began falling between 5:30 and 6 PM. I took these photos shortly after 8:30 PM from my front door. See how little you can see of the barrel?

Snowy sunset

More snow photos in 3 parts (part 3)

The sun is setting on the BIG snow storm. I went around the house and tried to photograph some of the same scenes I photographed before.

More snow photos in 2 parts (part 2)

Looking out the downstairs bedroom window to the bathroom window, I saw this ...

Looking out the dining room French doors I took this photo ...

Out the front door, which has a drift developing, I took these photos ...

Snow Storm February 6, 2010

The snow began last night about 4 PM. It was slight at first and snowed all night. About 1 PM today, I took the following photos out the doors and windows. First I opened the front door and took the first 2 photos...

Then I open the back door in the laundry room and took this of the deck drifts...

This was taken from the inside of the downstairs bedroom looking toward the north (garage area.)

The photo below was taken looking out the downstairs bathroom window. The snow has blown up against the window screen.
