Today Tom and I went to New York City. While there we walked past my Alma Mater - Cliff and Char are you reading this??? Yes, The King's College is now in the Empire State Building and has been for a number of years.

We took the train from Wilmington, Delaware - about a 2 hour trip to NYC.

Here is Tom in Herold Square which is at 34th and Broadway. Tom, the consummate historian, began to point to Broadway and explain that it used to be an Indian path! Upon returning home I learned, "Broadway, as the name implies, is a wide avenue in New York City. While New York has several other Broadways, in the context of the city it usually refers to the Manhattan street. It is the oldest north-south main thoroughfare in the city, dating to the first New Amsterdam settlement. The name Broadway is an English translation of the Dutch name, Breede weg....Broadway was originally the Wickquasgeck Trail, carved into the brush land of Manhattan by its Native American inhabitants. This trail originally snaked through swamps and rocks along the length of Manhattan Island. Upon the arrival of the Dutch, the trail soon became the main road through the island from New Amsterdam at the southern tip." That is thanks to Wikipedia!

Our real destination was the Morgan Library where there was an exhibit of bindings of books dating back to 870!

What fun it was to meet Mary Clow, President of the Tyndale Society for lunch before we examined the exhibit! Why did I not take a photo of Tom with Mary???? :-(
