Dec. 5, 2008 - Happy 70th George!

Roberta, Rosaleen and I went out last evening with George to help him to celebrate his 70th Birthday!

Even the Ozer Turkish restaurant helped and brought him tiramisu with candles! It was very delicious as we all had a taste! See the halo over St. George! (Are we not called to be saints in 1 Corinthians 1:2?)

After dinner, we walked outside and there was All Souls beautifully lighted.

Earlier in the day, I had taken the train from Worcester to Oxford and then a coach from Oxford to Hilingdon to Char's. This was taken from the coach window (bus window to folks in the USA) as we left Oxford.

Then as we drove out toward the motorway we passed McDonalds! That photo is for KRIT!

Happy 70th Birthday George (yesterday - Dec. 5)!

Yesterday morning, I took the train to Oxford then the coach to Hillingdon and taught a short Bible Study to Char's prayer group. Then Geoff brought me into London. Last night I was blessed to celebrate George's 70th with Roberta and Rosaleen in London. Then we drove around a bit and saw magnificent Chrsitmas lights. I am having trouble uploading pictures so I will try to do that later.

NO PHOTOS!

What am I supposed to send a photo of today? The laundry pile? The washing machine? The printer that broke and David fixed? The piles of papers I have gone through? The work I have done on the computer today??? I have nothing worth a photo -- but I did get quite a bit accomplished. Perhaps there will be photos tomorrow?

Today - working on research at home in Worcester...

I do not have pretty pictures of landscapes or interesting places today. However, above is a picture of Mark. I spent the day working on my research at the home in Worcester. Mark came over about 9 AM. Mark and Margaret are good friends of Larry and Debbie and they have been very good to me. Last Saturday, Mark had called and said that if I would like to brainstorm some of my research questions with him, he would be delighted to help me. Since he offered and seemed genuinely interested and I felt the need of someone with whom to talk things through, I invited him over today. We worked for 5 hours brainstorming ideas and trying to solve some problems. It was a very good working session and I do have some ideas about what to do with the precious few days I will be able to use the libraries before I return to the US. Thus, productive work was done!

Marylynn in Stratford upon Avon - Part 1

Today, I was able to go to Stratford upon Avon to spend some time with a very dear friend and John Newton scholar. The ride over went through some lovely villages.

It was so great to see Marylynn again! We spent the first few hours discussing my research and her work. She has done so much and I learned a great deal from her.

She has beautiful views from her Lodge window! Where I am staying, all I see are other houses. I confess, I do miss the farm.

After lunch, went across the road to see the River Avon...

...and the ducks!

Marylynn in Stratford upon Avon - Part 2

The beauty of God's creation!

The light from the sun which was low in the sky due to the high latitude made the scenes intriguing.

Such lighting to view God's creation!

I was very sad to bid farewell to my very dear friend.

Shopping with Margaret...

Some days one MUST go shopping to get some needed items. Today Margaret offered to drive me into Worcester and, I thought, that is much better than a bus ride!

We walked down the High Street and I went to the bank, post office and then stopped to get some milk and a few other things.

On the way down the street, Margaret began to talk to a street vendor and then ultimately bought a hat. (No Roberta! I did not buy one also!)
